The women’s pole vault at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games will be a family affair, with sisters Vicky and Liz Parnov set to go head-to-head after both earned selection to the Australian team.
The pair, who are also coached by their father Alex, admit the family connection is different.
“It’s exciting…I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Liz told the Western Suburbs Weekly.
“She’s my best friend and he’s my dad so it’s very unique.
“It can be hard at times but we don’t know any different.”
Both sisters have previously represented Australia at a Commonwealth Games, with Liz competing at Delhi in 2010 and Vicky in Melbourne four years earlier.
Liz said she felt more confident going in to this year’s games compared to Delhi and the London Olympics.
“I definitely think it helps being a year older,” Liz said.
“Having bad results there, it’s taught me a lot.”
