Keely Small Selected in Australian Team for Youth Olympic Games
Congratulations are extended to Keely Small following her selection in the Australian Athletics Team for the 2018 summer Youth Olympic Games being held in Buenos Aires from 6-18 October.
13 of Australia’s brightest young track and field athletes will travel to South America headlined by Keely, age 17, who has already made her senior Australian debut at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast. Competing in the 800m heats Keely ran 2:00.81, just missing the eight-person final by 0.28 seconds. The time was the fastest in Australian junior history, breaking the national U20 and U18 records and she remains the second fastest U20/U18 athlete in the world in 2018.
This will be the third edition of the Youth Olympics for U18 athletes with the previous Games being held in Singapore in 2010 and Nanjing in 2014.
