Athletics ACT Life Member, Denis Wilson AM, was honoured during the recent 2017 IAAF World Athletics Championships in London for his services to athletics in Oceania and globally.
Denis’ lifetime contribution as an official, and administrator to athletics in Australia and worldwide has been significant. He was also a very talented athlete and ran a 4 minute mile as a member of an Australian Relay Team that held a world record where all four members ran sub 4-minute miles.
Denis made his principal contribution as a member of the IAAF Technical Committee with expertise in certifying tracks and is still involved in this role even though he’s now in his early 80’s.
Denis was presented with Life Membership of Oceania Athletics Association by Oceania Athletics President Geoff Gardner and IAAF President Sebastian Coe.
Sincere congratulations and well deserved Denis!
