RunACT Results - Weetangara Relays

It was the coldest day of the year to date and the sun didn't sneak through the fog until after the running started, but a competitive field lined up for the Weetangara Relays.

The junior 4 x 1km relay was dominated by Ginninderra Little As, with their teams taking the first 4 places on a tough 1km loop. First place went to the team with James Lemon, Rebecca Guest, Hannah Cadden and Ryan Cuzner in a time of 15:38.

The Open 10km relay saw some tight neck and neck racing with some interesting tactical changes on the fly - 5 different teams were running in the top 3 at some stage and the order kept shuffling. Another Ginninderra team moved clear to win comfortably from South Canberra Tuggeranong and an Assorted team dominated by the Smyth family. Congratulations to Jordan King, Layla Rowntree, Meg Freeman and Jacob Davill on the excellent performance.

The strong turnout from Ginninderra Little As has forced the Club Pointscore competition into a very tight battle. South Canberra Tuggeranong now lead Ginninderra by 25 points - 2124 to 2099. With two races to go this is going to be close.

The individual pointscores still have the same leaders, although the gaps back to the field are growing. James Lemon leads the 10years and under pointscore from Sebastian Young. Hannah Cadden is well clear in the Under 18 race while Jim White leads Ewen Thompson by just 10 points in the open race.
